What started off as a simple and humble attempt to find answers to deep questions, quickly transformed into a great battle for his life. Young Joseph Smith, concerned for the salvation of his own soul, turned to God in prayer seeking knowledge how to obtain it. Before he knew it, he was seised upon by some great adversary that sought to bind his tongue and lead him to destruction. After his best attempts to ward off his foe, despair overtook him.
To his great astonishment and relief, a great supernal light escaped the heavens, piercing through the darkness commanding all evil to flee. As the brilliance of this light rested upon him filling his soul to the brim with joy, the Father of Lights and His Son, the Answer to salvation Himself descended and laid rest to all Joseph’s concerns. He discovered for himself that the Lord of glory, fully in charge, was in fact the way, the truth, and the light of the world, that through Him all could be redeemed from their sins.
Forgiven of his own sins, Joseph was then instructed that by the Lord’s mighty hand, the fullness of His truth would come to light in due time. Joseph would soon discover that His unstoppable plan to mend that great heavenly rift would roll forth, and that great war for our souls, which began in heaven at the foundation of the earth, would be conquered by the Lord Himself. All those who choose Him and follow His proper way, soon to be revealed, could in fact abide in the Lord’s presence and return to their heavenly home.
